Steel wire strength grades are as follows

  • Ordinary-strength steel wire has a tensile strength of 300-800 MPa, such as Q195 or Q235 low-carbon steel. It is used for ordinary wire, construction lashings, and hardware.
  • Medium- and high-strength steel wire has a tensile strength of 800-1500 MPa, such as medium-carbon steel, 65Mn, and 72A low-alloy steel. It is generally used for springs, tire cord, and wire rope.
  • Ultra-high-strength steel wire has a tensile strength of 1500-3000 MPa+, such as 82B and SWRH82B high-carbon steel. It is used for bridge cables, aviation wire, and bulletproof materials.
  • Special ultra-high-strength steel wire has a tensile strength of 3000 MPa or more, such as 18Ni maraging steel used for deep-sea cables and spacecraft components.
